Aporocactus

Recently included (for very obscure reasons) in the genus Disocactus. Due to the look of the up to 120 cm long thin stems called sometimes a ”snake cactus”. It is at home in Mexico’s highlands, where it grows as an epiphyte, i.e. on some tree trunks or branches. We usually grow its hybrids of red or violet flowers. It likes the soil (which should be some standard cactus mix) to be constantly humid although it would survive its drying. Recommended as a hanging pot plant. Warning: it is very prickly indeed!
