Aylostera

Nowadays a subgenus in the genus Rebutia. They are small ball-shaped plantlets of Argentinean and Bolivian Andes, with green epidermis, not very prickly spines and extraordinary flowers – this could be the shortest characteristics. Not disappointing in cultivation. Fresh air lovers (it is better for them than greenhouses), they can endure light frost from time to time and full sun, but also will grow in light half-shade, they appreciate a lot of water in spring and summer but with stand six months drought without blinking. In nature they grow mostly solitary but in pots they grow into clusters and in spring one cannot see the plants hidden under the carpet of flowers! |
