Rebutia

This is a genus consisting of three subgenera: Aylostera, Mediolobivia and Rebutia itself, and here we deal with the third subgenus only. The plants are always small, more or less globular, with short soft spines and incredible flower that grow from lower body parts, usually just on the ground (potting mix) level. Flowers can be red, yellow, violet, pink or white. One small plant may give birth to a dozen or more blooms. Care is very simple: the potting mix can contain some soil, watering can be ample, plants can be just outside in the open (with some transparent roof), only in winter they require cold (0–5°C) and light.
