Sulcorebutia

This has recently been the most popular genus amongst cactus growers. Although they are easily recognized as Sulcos (the popular nick-name), their requirements are just like Mediolobivia’s or Lobivia’s. These small ball-shaped plantlets live exclusively in Bolivian mountains, their areoles (spots the spines grow from) are always vertical and not circular, spines long or short, usually nice in shape and colour, flowers big and colour range wider than Rebutia’s. The roots are swollen in most cases, so be careful with watering. When you happen to meet somebody telling you Sulcorebutia is now a included in Rebutia, pretend not to listen and leave. This idea is just insane.
